Haileybury, Hertfordshire

The East India Company established a college at Haileybury, near Hertford Heath. Thomas Malthus (1766-1834) taught here from 1805. He moved into the east side of a house in 1809 and bought the house in 1815. The house is extant as part of the buildings of the Haileybury and Imperial Service Colleges. Babbage applied for a job here in 1816. One source says the College became Haileybury School.

Bewick Bridge (1767-1833) was Professor of Mathematics at some time.
